Back to Brum & 5k

The next morning, Perry took Becky, Fiona and I around some of the other fields at Howe. One field was being tended by the man and his team who handle the sheep. We got to watch the sheep dogs herd the sheep together and keep them in one place. Then the team set up metal gates and with the help of the dogs and the team of people they got all the sheep herded into the gates to be eventually loaded on to trailers. The goal was to move the heard to fields closer to the buildings for shearing. It was amazing to watch.

Eventually our time at Howe and with Perry and Fiona and our amazing trip to Scotland all had to come to an end. Perry and Fiona dropped us off at the train station in Doncaster and we rode the train to Birmingham. We then grabbed an Uber and got to Abigail and Mark’s house. We were a bit tired and overwhelmed with all that we had just been through, but it was very good to see Abigail and family again.

The next day Mark and Abigail were going to Cannon Hill Park to participate in a Saturday Park Run. This one Mark attended because of Harry Morgan of Jog On was going to be there. Mark has run with Harry a couple of times, the last time he helped Harry finish a half marathon. This is no big thing for Mark, but it turned very difficult for Harry. Harry invited Mark to come to the 5K this Saturday. Becky and I thought we would tag along and take care of Jamie. Well Mark wanted to run with Jamie and Abigail is part of a run club and so she ran the 5K as well. Becky and I decided to just walk along for a while, well before we knew it, we were part of the 5k. We were just walking at the end of the race, but the volunteers at the end of the race always stayed behind us. They played music and had a great deal of fun that we joined in. As we were the end of the race, we had gathered a group of people with us and had a nice crowd that joined us to go across the finish line. Before we knew it, we had finished our first, and most likely last, 5k.

Over the next several days we really just spent time with Abigail, Mark, and Jamie and some of their friends. We went to church with them. Grace Church Stirchley is filled with wonderful people that we got to meet and a wonderful leadership team. They will be losing their senior pastor soon, but we believe they have a great plan for a new person stepping in.

Becky made a quick trip back to Perry and Fiona’s when Fiona came up to have her day with Jamie. She always takes him for his weekly swim lesson. Becky just spent the night, and it really was just to grab some things we needed as we would be in Birmingham for another week. I stayed and spent time getting my summer class ready that will go live on June 1st. I also was working out plans for the big project that we would be doing in Abigail and Mark’s garden starting later in the week. I of course also got to spend a great deal of time with Jamie. I got to take him to the park a couple of times, and we had a great deal of fun. It was also wonderful to give Abigail and Mark some breaks to do some things they needed to get done.

Becky came back the next day and the fun would begin on Thursday.
