As we started a new week the sunshine continued. It really has been amazing how many sunny days we have been having and not only sunny, but really warm as well. The mornings have been cool to cold, but by late morning it is so nice. We met with just a few students to continue through CS Lewis’ the Screwtape Letters. It is always such a great discussion. I love having these conversations with the students. Then Becky packed up as she was going to be heading back to Brum to take care of Jamie again. I went with Becky down to the Euston station and we ate lunch and then she headed out. I ran a few errands and came back and had a quite night at the DH.
The next day was class, and I just took the students out to a coffee shop to grab what they wanted before we had class. We talked about AI. We looked at self-driving cars and Watson. Then I had an advising call I did and worked on things inside, which was hard as it was a nice day out. I finally got out to do a few errands and then another quite night.
I then spent the next day updating the blog. In the afternoon I out and headed off to Battersea Park. It sits on the south side of the Thames River. I found a nice mews/alley way to get most of the way to the Thames from the DH. I then walked along the Thames and then over The Chelsea Bridge and into the park. I had been to the park before, but it is over 200 acres and this day I was in no rush. I walked it’s many, many paths and went by the cricket fields, around the Boating Lake, by the band stand, past the children’s zoo and through the Sub Tropical Garden. It was a very relaxing time and so nice to see all that was in the park. The park was a marshy area back in the 1800’s and was used for many different things till it was decided to create it into a park which opened in 1858. It is just one of so many green spaces London has for its citizens.
Becky made it back from a good time in Birmingham. Poor Jamie was a bit crabby when she left. This night was the last night of the different floor cooking dinner for the whole house. This group did American food. They made burgers, hotdogs, brats, mac/cheese, chips, French fries, and even had watermelon. We all had such a great time sitting around talking and relaxing. The energy in the room was amazing and it was so nice to see all these students getting along with each other. All 16 of the students get along. Some have a bit closer tie to others, but there are no little groups against others. Everyone really enjoys spending time with each other. We have been so blessed.
