Cricket

The next day was rainy in the morning. Becky headed out with one of the students to ride the tube to her last day of her internships. All the students have either wrapped or finishing up their semester long internships. These have been great experiences for the students and really help the students interact with British culture and the people. Becky then took off and found Highgate Cemetery and Waterlow Park which has a statue to Karl Marx. She dodged rain most of the time she was out there.

I stayed in and took care of work and other things and also stayed dry. Then later in the day, after the rain had passed the whole DH headed over to Kensington Park to learn how to play Cricket. Tom brought the equipment and explained the game, most of which none of us understood. He has done this before so he just said let’s go and you will all figure it out. Now, you have to understand that most of the people are not athletic and really didn’t care too much, but I have to give everyone credit, they all participated. The only one that did not was Becky. This was due mostly to the fact that we were afraid that insurance would not cover the injuries she most likely would incur. She sat and cheered on both teams.

We all had a great deal of laughs. Tom was very good to keep things moving along and making sure that everyone got involved and had to participate. We played for almost two hours, and everyone seemed to have a really great time. I know for certain that no one will be sitting down and watching Cricket matches, but at least we all have a better understanding of how the game is played.
