Farm & Boat

The next day we headed off to the Mudchute Park and Farm. Becky had visited here at another time, but we were going to be spending the day with Olivia, one of the students here. We headed out on the train. It was an absolutely perfect spring day. The temperature rose to 70 degrees, and the sun was shining full. The farm not big at all but is run by the city and is open to everyone. They have lambs, goats, horses, pigs, all sorts of birds. Many of the animals have low fences near them or at least fencing that you can reach in and pet the animals. They also sell feed you can give to many of the animals.

They place was fairly busy due to the perfect weather, but we had an enjoyable time walking around and seeing the animals. We then sat out a picnic table and had a nice long lunch and visit. We then headed to the Greenwich Pedestrian Tunnel. This tunnel goes under the Thames and was opened in 1902. It was hit by a bomb in the blitz during WWII, but they were able to repair it fairly quickly. They had to as if it had been left open it would have caused all sorts of problems in the river. They say that around 4,000 people use the tunnel every day to go from East London on one side to the Millwall area on the other side. It is strange walking it realizing you are under the Thames.

We then decided to get on the Uber boat to ride back up the river. Again, the day was nice, so the que was long. It was a great ride as we were able to stand at the back of the boat and be in the sunshine as we went. The river was bit rougher than the other times we have been on it, but it was a great ride. It was nice to be in the sunshine and feel the wind in our faces. We slowly made our way along to Embankment and hoped off. We then made our way back to the DH.

Becky and I then strolled over to the Duke of Clarence pub for dinner and then strolled back. It was like a nice summer night out. We even came across a bunch of the students who were just out strolling themselves, since it was such a nice night out. When we got back some students were watch the movie “The Switch”. We had never seen it and they asked us to join in, and we did. After that everyone decided to watch Pirates of the Carribean: The curse of the Black Pearl. It was fun to watch it again. We did not get to bed till very late, but it was fun spending time with the students.
