Friends of A&M

The next couple of days was really working around Jamie’s schedule of naps. He really did not want to take them but really needed to. It is always so hard for a toddler to be in a different place and be meeting so many new faces and then to just go down for a nap. He did great, he was just being a toddler.

The next morning was quite from the long night before, but Jamie was ready to play. All of us took a little nap here and there including Jamie. Then around mid-day a couple of Mark and Abigails good friends showed up. We all headed off to lunch. We just walked up to the high street near Kensington Park. Turned out there was a very large rally gathering in support of Palestine right in the area. It was clearly a planned and well-organized event and there was a ton of police around, so it was nothing to be worried about. We found a nice place called the Spaghetti House and had lunch.

We then walked over to Kensington Park and the Lady Di play area for kids, and we all followed Jamie around as he played on different items. It was an overcast day, but nice. There were tons of people around for the rally and then just a ton of people in the play area. We were going to walk over and see the Lady Di fountain, but as we walked it started to thunder, lightning, and finally rain. We all kind of scattered in different directions. It does not thunder and lightning in the UK often and so many people don’t take it very seriously which really concerned me. We eventually all made it back to the DH and changed close and of course got Jamie down for a nap. Mark and Abigail’s friends headed out.

For the evening, we boarded the tube and rode all the way-out Oak Hill College in the north part of London. This is where Mark & Abigail’s friends Hannah and Jez and their 1-year-old daughter live. Jez is studying at the school, and they live housing there. We had a nice dinner and visit and then headed back to the DH. It was an hour tube ride both ways.

Another day of a very tired Jamie. Becky and I went to church while Jamie took a long morning nap. Then we had Chipotle for lunch, and they got on the tube and headed home. Becky and I rested and then went for dinner at the Duke of Clarence pub and wrapped up our very full and wonderful weekend. We were exhausted.
