Most students had taken off for the weekend. We were tired from our Dover trip, and we decided to just rest and relax in London the rest of the weekend. Saturday was an amazingly wonderful day in the city. We first ran out and had to by some spring/summer clothes. This was always our plan. We decided to just bring winter clothes and then when the weather got warmer, we would buy some things over here. We may just donate some of our winter clothes before we head back.

Next, we decided to go find what Becky found on the internet as listed the best cheesecake around. It is called Basque cheesecake and was created in 1988 in Basque Country, Spain. Becky found a place called La Maritxu near us that serves it and is known for having some of the best Basque cheesecake in London. We hoped on the tube and headed off to find it. Yes, it was worth it. The cheesecake was some of the creamiest, lightest, and best I have ever had. We savored every bite.

Next, we realized we were very near Hyde Park and so decided to walk over there. What a difference a few months make. I remember first coming to Hyde Park in January and there were people, but not many and everyone was bundled up and everyone was only walking and moving. This day, it was in the low 60’s and sunny and everyone was out. People were having picnics, sleeping, sitting visiting, out in boats on the Serpentine Lake, or just taking a slow walk through the park. It was beautiful with all the tree’s leafing, flower blooming, birds chirping, and the sun shining in clear blue skies. We joined in with everyone else and slowly made our way along the many walkways. We took time at the park cafe and sat at a picnic table and had a pizza and something to drink. We were in no hurry.

We stopped and saw the new art they put up outside the Serpentine Gallery. I saw them putting these trees up while on my morning walks. Yes, they are metal trees that have boulders in the tree branches. I know that there is concrete under the trees that they are mounted to. I saw them lift the boulders with a crane, so I know they are heavy. I am not sure what the artist is saying, but hey there they are.

The day was so wonderful and relaxing.

The next day we slowly got up and headed to church. We have really enjoyed being at Christ Church Kensington. They have had several people on staff preaching during our time there and each person does such a fantastic job digging into the word and presenting so much truth. We have always walked back to the Daniel House feeling very blessed and have appreciated our time there.

Back in February Becky got a chance to go see a show called Hedestown. A student and his friend had an extra ticket and invited her. She loved it and said we had to go see it together. We went to the afternoon showing of it at the Lyric theatre and it did not disappoint. The show itself was great, but the set and lighting were truly amazing. We ended up with great seats right on the floor and were able to really take in the whole show. When Becky had gone in February the seats were high up, and they actually missed some elements of the show. We have been so blessed to have seen as many shows as we have since we got here. We are planning to see at least one more before our time in London is over.

The rest of the day was to relax and get ready for another busy week.
