I spent one day just plowing through all the work I needed to get done before running off for spring break. Becky took advantage of the wonderful spring like weather that was coming into the London area. She got outside after spending the morning having coffee with one of the students. She took walks and relaxed and ran some errands. In the evening the third-floor people of the Daniel House put together dinner for everyone. They did a great job of making an amazing Mexican dinner. This is other one ethnic food that is missing in the UK. There are places that serve Mexican fare, btut it is not the greatest. The students really did a good job making Tex/Mex as several are from Texas.
The next day Becky had another early coffee outing with a student. I finished up some work. Then we headed out to meet Perry and Fiona, this is Mark’s mother and stepfather, to see the play The Score at The Royal Haymarket theatre. It was a play that takes place in 1747 in Potsdam, Prussia and is about Johann Sebastian Bach and King Fredrick II. None of us knew this particular time in history and this story line, but it really did happen. This show just added to our continued learning of all the history that we have been gaining since we arrived here in the UK. It is overwhelming.
The four of us went out to dinner afterwards and enjoyed some great conversation. We really had hoped the four of us could have gotten together more often than we have. This is only the second time we have all gotten together. We left agreeing that we have to figure out a time to get to their wonderful house for a weekend in the country.
Becky and I enjoyed a little walk around the Thames before heading back to the Daniel House. We decided to go down the back stairs to our room and as we did Becky unfortunately slipped on the stairs and stretched the ligaments in her left ankle. This is the other ankle from what she hurt back in January. She was able to get to bed, but we both knew this was going to slow her down a great deal for a week or more. A great day that did not end great.
