The next day my leg was not doing much better. It was very stiff, and I spend much of the morning trying to loosen it up. Abigail called and said that she was on her way and Jamie got a chance to talk to her, it was a video call, and I am not sure how much of Jamie Abigail actually saw of him.
Mark had worked all morning and then when Abigail arrived, he went on daddy duty the rest of the afternoon. Becky, Abigail and I headed off to the Royal Drury Lane Theatre to see Tom Hiddleston in Shakespeare’s Much a Do About Nothing. It was so much fun. The play was so creative, and the actors did an amazing job performing Shakespeare. It being an afternoon performance the audience was so upbeat and really into the show. We all enjoyed it so much.
We came back and gave Mark time to go run and we went off and had dinner at a little restaurant called Frank’s. It was fine, but Jamie was very wiggly and needed to be walked around a great deal as we waited for our food. We got Jamie down and then visited till we all started to fall asleep.
The next day started with us having coffee and tea and then the news hit that Heathrow airport was shutdown. One student did have her parents flying in that day. They got diverted to Paris and then took the Eurostar to London. I made an appointment to go see Becky’s PT person in the morning. He really helped. He says I did not do any serious damage, but I really strained some muscles, mostly my hamstring. He worked on it a great deal and gave me some exercises and that really helped. Mark and I both worked all afternoon and Becky, Abigail and Jamie went over to Kew Gardens. It is a botanical garden that covers over 330 acres and has been in various stages of development since the 1300’s. It was a beautiful day, and they had a great time.
Mark and I gathered in the parlor with all the students and at 6:15 we all headed out for the tube. We met Jamie and the ladies coming back from their trip as we headed out to Wembley stadium to see England play Albania in England’s first match of the World Cup qualifying games. The announced attendance at the stadium was 83,000 people and it seemed like it. The train was full of people heading out there. It was quite the climb to our seats, but it was fun being there. Becky was not all the interested in attending the game and Mark had not been to Wembley since he was a kid, so she gave up her seat. The match was very much controlled by England throughout the game, but we did get to cheer “GOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLL” twice during the match since England won 2-0. There were many Albania fans in the stadium which did make it fun. Some of the students left at half-time as they did not want to deal with the crowds after the game. They were correct. The crowds both just getting to the tube and then on the tube were very massive. Everyone was orderly and kind, but it was just moving with the flow to get back to the DH.
Abigail, Jamie and Becky had a nice quite night at the DH.
