The next day we were a bit tired but got up and were able to make it to church. We did lose an hour of time, since this was the weekend that the UK changes its clocks. Mostly we were tired from our world wind tour of the Cotswold’s. It was worth every bit of it. After church I took off to meet a former Samford CS student, Brandon Hafenrichter. He graduated in 2015 and then for a time lived and worked in Berlin. He had always wanted to travel to Europe and so he did. He eventually met a Russian woman and got married and they have been living in London for the past several years. They do plan to move back to the US sometime in the next year. It was so wonderful to catch up with him. He is also going to see if maybe my class can visit his offices.
Becky took off and went and spent the afternoon over at Battersea Station Park. It is such a wonderful time of year. Over the past week or two everything is so coming to life. I have loved my walks in Kensington Park as the trees are all budding and flowers are slowly emerging. Green leaves are finally starting to pop on the bushes and some trees and slowly the drab brown color of everything is being filled in with color and green. It has also been very sunny lately, not always extremely warm, but at least sunny. The wind really can blow here. So even if it is in the upper 50’s it may feel more like the 40’s due to the strong winds blowing. With the time change it is also day light so much longer. When we first arrived, the sun was rose at almost 8am and set at almost 4:30pm, now it is rising at 6:30am and setting at around 7:30 pm. What a difference that makes.
Later in the evening a bunch of us headed to the Duke of Clarence for the trivia pub night. Alish had her family along with her and then Elliott, Hannah, Izzy, Drew, Alex, Carolyn all came along with Becky and I in tow. Alish and her family made up one table and the rest of us made up another. The questions are not easy, except for the questions that deal with the USA. We love those questions. There was a total of six tables at the pub playing. Trivia night at the pub is huge all over the UK. Most pubs have a trivia night some night of the week. Amazingly our table got second place. We were so excited. What a great night.
