Students had one on one meetings with Tom and Jo all day so Becky and I were able to do as we saw fit in our own eyes. Becky decided to head off to Hamstead Heath. This location outside of London is mentioned in many books, movies and television shows. She really enjoyed her time there and exploring around. Her bit of frustration came when she tried to leave. She had the Citymapper app and knew what where the tube station was supposed to be, but could not find it. She would walk one way and stop and ask and they would turn her around and say 5 minutes that way. She would walk 10 minutes and not find it, ask again and they would turn her around and say walk 5 minutes that way. This happened a couple times before she discovered that the tube sign was covered in construction canopies and she had walked past it several times.
I did some work and then headed to the Science Museum. Becky and I ran through it last August when we were in town, but I really wanted to take my time. I did. I explored for over 4 hours and loved slowly walking through the exhibits. I also will be returning with my class and wanted to check some things out. So much science history has come out of the UK and they have done a great job of displaying it and highlighting so many amazing accomplishments.
Becky and I met up later and headed down to the Euston train station to meet Abigail and Jamie. They rode in for the weekend and Tom was gracious enough to allow them to stay in the spare room at the Daniel House, after a she was able to prove she had had a recent background check. It was so great to see them. We dropped things at the Daniel House and Abigail and Jamie got to meet folks and Jamie and Tom’s 1 year old son George got to play a bit. Then we grabbed dinner at Duke of Clarence pub.
After a good meal it was time to get Jamie down and call it a night for all of us.
